Hoya rubida is a tropical climbing plant native to the Philippines, admired for its soft green leaves that can take on a reddish tint, especially when exposed to strong light. It produces clusters of small, waxy flowers with a reddish-pink centre, giving it a delicate and decorative appeal. Its unique foliage and charming scent make it a sought-after variety among Hoya enthusiasts and collectors.
Hoyas are a Plantsmith favourite due to their easy-going nature and diversity (not to mention some of the craziest names around). Hoya's are epiphytic plants, meaning they require a well-draining mix in a tighter pot to be happy; only repot in Spring when it is bursting out of its current pot. This plant is semi-tropical, find a warm, bright spot and keep indoors over the cooler months. Keep soil on the dryer side over winter and moist in the warmer months.
Available in 10cm plastic nursery pots.
We do our very best to photograph each new batch of plants that come in, taking care that the plant pictured here is an accurate representation of the current stock on hand. Please also note, as is the nature of living things, there may be some slight variation in leaf shape, placement etc, they are living plants after all!
